Duties 

The appointee will be required to assist the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Climate Resilience for Coastal Cities (the Laboratory) to:

(a)    provide training and technical support to users, students, research personnel and laboratory members;

(b)    oversee laboratory equipment and core research facilities for smooth operation and optimal utilisation;

(c)    assist in preparing funding proposals and equipment procurement;

(d)    contribute to the preparation of technical reports and supporting materials;

(e)    collaborate with laboratory members to align resources with research needs;

(f)     support the management of research funding and projects;

(g)    document technical protocols, user guides, and FAQs;

(h)    assist in organising professional conferences and workshops hosted by the Laboratory;

(i)     conduct workshops to showcase technical demonstrations and laboratory achievements;

(j)     provide support for the development, operation and promotion of the Laboratory; and

(k)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Laboratory or his delegates. 

Qualifications 

Applicants should have: 

(a)    a recognised master’s degree or above in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification, with at least five years of relevant post-qualification research experience; 

(b)    proven experience in managing research laboratories in the related areas; 

(c)    extensive experience in leading or managing large-scale and collaborative research projects; 

(d)    excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;

(e)    good experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary and multi-institutional teams;

(f)     strong organisation skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively; and

(g)    a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in both Putonghua and Cantonese preferred.

Applicants with less experience will be considered for a post at lower rank. 

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
