Postdoctoral Fellow

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “A feasibility study of an mHealth-based healthcare professional-lay health worker partnership program (mHLPP) among community-dwelling impoverished older adults”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    coordinate the day-to-day delivery of one or more funded studies (e.g., pragmatic trials, hybrid effectiveness–implementation evaluations, mixed-methods studies); 

(b)    develop and maintain project plans, milestones and documentation as required by funders and institutional governance;

(c)    support intervention implementation (e.g., training materials, fidelity procedures); 

(d)    prepare and submit ethics applications and amendments, and liaise with institutional/Hospital Authority or equivalent committees;

(e)    develop study instruments (e.g., questionnaires, interview guides, implementation measures), data collection workflows and data management plans;

(f)     ensure compliance with research governance, data security and confidentiality requirements;

(g)    conduct quantitative analyses (e.g., regression, mixed models, mediation/moderation, cluster designs where relevant) and qualitative analyses (e.g., thematic analysis, framework analysis);

(h)    integrate mixed-methods findings to generate implementation-relevant conclusions and recommendations;

(i)     maintain reproducible analysis workflows and well-documented codebooks/syntax;

(j)     engage key stakeholders (e.g., clinicians, service managers, non-governmental organisations /community partners, participants) to support the recruitment, implementation, adaptation documentation and interpretation of findings;

(k)    contribute to co-design/co-production activities, including workshops and iterative refinement of intervention components;

(l)     lead manuscript preparation and submission to high-quality peer-reviewed journals;

(m)   prepare conference abstracts, presentations, and impact-oriented outputs (e.g., implementation toolkits, policy briefs, stakeholder reports);

(n)    contribute to grant writing and the development of follow-on funding proposals;

(o)    support and mentor research assistants and/or postgraduate students;

(p)    contribute to a collegial, high-performance research culture, and participate in regular team meetings and reporting; and

(q)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School, the project leader or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application; 

(b)    experience in HealthTech intervention; and

(c)    strong communication skills in English.

Preference will be given to those with proficiency in Cantonese.
