Part-time Research Associate

[Appointment period: three months initially, with possibility of further appointment]
Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader with the editorial work and research projects for an academic journal. He/She will be required to:
(a) perform initial checks for journal submissions;
(b) identify reviewers;
(c) promote the journal on social media and academic platforms;
(d) proofread the academic journals;
(e) liaise between the journal editor, the publisher and authors;
(f) contribute to grant writing and funding applications;
(g) conduct research projects; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegate(s).
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a master’s degree or PhD degree in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification with three or more years of research/relevant work experience;
(b) strong background in research methods in Applied Linguistics;
(c) proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods;
(d) editorial experience;
(e) the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
(f) excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; and
(g) strong organisational and time management skills.

Conditions of Service
The remuneration rate is HK$178 per hour.
