Postdoctoral Fellow / Part-time Project Technical Assistant

(1) Postdoctoral Fellow
[Appointment period: six months initially, with possibility of further appointment]
(2) Part-time Project Technical Assistant (several posts)
[Appointment period: each for ten months]
Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Large-scale complex 3D geometric feature computation for domestic large aircraft”. They will be required to:
(a) conduct advanced research on point cloud techniques for geometric analysis;
(b) develop and implement algorithms for 3D perception (e.g. segmentation, localization and mapping);
(c) design and execute experiments to evaluate, validate and refine algorithms and systems;
(d) assist in publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and making presentation at conferences; and
(e) collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and industry partners.
Qualifications
For the post of Postdoctoral Fellow, applicants should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.
For the post of Project Technical Assistant, applicants should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification.
For both posts, applicants should also have:
(a) strong background in 3D perception, including segmentation, localization, mapping and multi-modal sensor fusion;
(b) proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++;
(c) demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative projects; and
(d) strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced research environment.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
For part-time appointment, the remuneration rate for the post of Project Technical Assistant is HK$120 per hour.
