Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) lead and coordinate initiatives, activities and services of Special Educational Needs (SEN) Caring Team (i) to enhance accessibility to learning experience for students with SEN; (ii) to raise awareness and strengthen capacity towards students with SEN among PolyU community; and (iii) to organise events and activities that encourage integration and mainstreaming of students with SEN into the campus life;

(b) provide support services for students with SEN and maintain an effective record-keeping system;

(c) liaise with internal and external stakeholders for providing appropriate supports for SEN students and for promoting inclusivity; 

(d) oversee the operation of communal facilities;

(e) conduct institutional surveys to collect background information on new students; 

(f) coordinate the involvement / contributions of the Student Resources and Support Section in the event and marketing activities of the Student Affairs Office, including large-scale events;

(g) supervise subordinates with ongoing guidance and support; and

(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or his/her delegates.

The appointee is required to work irregular hours where necessary and conduct off-shore trips.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree;

(b) at least five years of solid and relevant post-qualification experience at a supervisory level, preferably in student affairs within tertiary education institutions;

(c) relevant experience in administration and/or student affairs; 

(d) excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua; 

(e) strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; and

(f) excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
