University Research Facility in Chemical and Environmental Analysis

Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide general and safety management for operations and technical support to the University Research Facility in Chemical and Environmental Analysis (UCEA);
(b) manage overall office administrative matters and assist the Director of UCEA in various functional areas such as human resources and finance;
(c) provide support to research projects related to solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy;
(d) provide training to laboratory users on solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic techniques;
(e) assist academic/teaching staff in conducting laboratory sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students;
(f) liaise with different parties of the University and external organisations;
(g) supervise subordinates with ongoing guidance and support; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a doctoral degree in Chemistry, Biology or related disciplines;
(b) have at least five years’ relevant experience at specialist/supervisory level, preferably gained in tertiary institutions;
(c) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese with fluency in Putonghua; and
(d) have strong analytical skills, and good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
