Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist in the development of new subjects for the upcoming Media Content and Game Design programme, including contributing to the design of course content and assessments;
(b) collaborate with the academic team to ensure the curriculum aligning with industry standards and emerging trends in game design and media content creation;
(c) provide input and insights based on expertise in game design to enhance the quality and relevance of the programme content;
(d) work closely with the programme coordinator and faculty members to facilitate a smooth transition into the new programme as well as offering support in various administrative and educational tasks;
(e) support the preparation and coordination of the admission exercise for the Media Content and Game Design programme, which may include reviewing applications, conducting interviews and evaluating portfolios;
(f) engage with prospective students to provide information about the programme, answer inquiries and assist with the admission process;
(g) contribute to the planning and execution of promotional events and activities related to the launch of the Media Content and Game Design programme; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates to ensure the successful establishment and launch of the new programme.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a master’s degree in disciplines related to media content and game design plus not less than three years of post-qualification experience in tertiary teaching and/or professional practice within the game design industry;
(b) demonstrate expertise and proficiency in the following areas essential to media content and game design:
- proficiency in 3D software packages, particularly 3D Max, Maya or Blender, with a focus on game asset creation;
- experience working with real-time engines, specifically Unreal Engine, Unity Engine, and familiarity with creating interactive game environments;
- knowledge of procedural workflows in game design and the ability to utilise Blueprints for game mechanics implementation;
- expertise in virtual character design techniques tailored for game development; and
- proficiency in image, video and animation packages, especially for game-related design and asset creation.
(c) showcase the capacity to conduct tutorials, workshops and assessments within the gaming domain;
(d) demonstrate a keen ability to develop curriculum and convert materials to suit the unique requirements of game design education; and
(e) possess exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
