Research Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (several posts)

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Wastes to wings – constructing a high-throughput sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) research platform to facilitate zero carbon air travel in Hong Kong”.

For the post in Flame Synthesis, they will be required to engage in fundamental and applied research on flame synthesis of new materials or nanoparticles.

For the post in Fuel life cycle analysis (LCA) and techno-economic analysis (TEA), they will be required to conduct life cycle environmental impact assessments of sustainable aviation fuels and other energy sources.

For the post in Laser Flame Diagnostics, they will be required to focus primarily on the application of advanced laser diagnostic techniques such as planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and laser-induced incandescence (LII) for in-situ diagnostics and analysis of turbulent flame dynamics.

Qualifications

For the post of Research Fellow, applicants should have a doctoral degree in a related discipline plus at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience.

For the post of Postdoctoral Fellow, applicants should have a doctoral degree in a related discipline and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

For the post of Research Assistant, applicants should have an honours degree in a related discipline.

For the post in Flame Synthesis, applicants should have research experience in combustion chemistry, materials synthesis or related fields.

For the post in LCA and TEA, applicants should have experience in LCA/TEA modeling, data analysis, and relevant software applications.

For the post in Laser Flame Diagnostics, applicants should have relevant experimental background and data processing skills.

For all posts, applicants should possess independent research capability, and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.

For part-time appointment, the remuneration rate for the posts of Research Fellow, Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant are HK$394 per hour, HK$385 per hour and HK$125 per hour respectively.
