Research Associate / Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (several posts)

[Appointment period: each for six months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Portrait of the Hong Kong: Bridging place identity, culture and emotional engagement via MTR interactive art installations”.  They will be required to:

(a)    assist in literature review;

(b)    develop the system platform;

(c)    assist in user studies (e.g. experiment design, data collection and analysis) to evaluate system prototypes;

(d)    provide support in preparing related documentation; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification with experience in programming, software engineering or new media art engineering.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification with experience in computer science, information technology, engineering, media technology or related disciplines.

Applicants should also have:

(a)    technical skills in interactive art installation/system design (Touchdesigner/Unity/Unreal), web data scraping and cleaning; and

(b)    good interpersonal and communication skills.

Preference will be given to those with a relevant portfolio related to system development, Human-Computer Interaction/Cultural Studies and/or knowledge of Cantonese.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointments, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  

For part-time appointments, the remuneration rates are HK$178 per hour for the post of Research Associate and HK$125 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
