Research Associate / Project Associate / Research Assistant / Project Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (six posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Evaluation study on school-based after school care service scheme and the pilot programme on community living room of the Social Welfare Department”.  They will be required to:

(a)    provide support to the project leader in daily operations of the project;

(b)    conduct research and evaluation studies;

(c)    support the development and implementation of project design, survey questionnaire and analysis plan;

(d)    assist in data collection, management and analysis;

(e)    prepare reports, publicity materials and correspondences; 

(f)    assist in logistic and administrative work;

(g)    liaise with internal departments, administrative units and external organisations to execute various events/activities and programmes; and

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by Head of Unit or his delegates.

The appointees may be required to occasionally work on irregular hours including weekday evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate or Project Associate post should have a master’s degree, preferably in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or other related disciplines or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Research Assistant or Project Assistant post should have an honours degree in one of the above-mentioned disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also: 

(a)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(b)    have good knowledge of using statistical software such as SPSS, Mplus, AMOS and/or R;

(c)    have research interests in poverty alleviation and children and youth development;

(d)    be highly motivated, result-oriented and able to work under pressure;

(e)    be dynamic and mature with a passion to build and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders; and

(f)    be a good team player and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to those with working experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointments, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.

For part-time appointments, the remuneration rates are HK$178 per hour for the posts of Research Associate or Project Associate and HK$125 per hour for the posts of Research Assistant or Project Assistant.
