Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time)

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with the possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “A novel acoustic metagrating barrier for traffic noise reduction”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    assist with literature reviews;

(b)    conduct analytical studies, numerical simulations, as well as laboratory and field measurements;

(c)    prepare research papers; and 

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree in acoustics or a related discipline and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree or a good honours degree in acoustics or a related discipline with three or more years of research/relevant work experience. 

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in acoustics or a related discipline.

Applicants for all posts should:

(a)    have excellent written and oral communication skills in English;

(b)    be proficient in COMSOL, MATLAB, and SolidWorks; and

(c)    have experience in conducting acoustic measurements.

Preference will be given to those with experience in acoustics and noise & vibrations control.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. 

For part-time appointment, the remuneration rates are HK$385 per hour for the post of Postdoctoral Fellow, HK$178 per hour for the post of Research Associate and HK$125 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
