Research Assistant Professor in Neuroimage and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics is comprised of Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography, two well-established healthcare disciplines whose tertiary education has a long history of over 40 years in Hong Kong. The unique combination of these two healthcare disciplines in one department enables us to share expertise across the two disciplines and excel in both research and education programmes. We are looking for a highly motivated personnel with expertise in bioinformatics, neuroimaging, machine learning, mental health or related fields to join our dynamic and interdisciplinary team.
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) conduct cutting-edge research in bioinformatics and mental health, with a focus on brain research, neuroimaging, and AI-driven health solutions;
(b) develop and apply machine learning and computational models to analyse large-scale health datasets;
(c) publish high-impact research in leading scientific journals and present findings at international conferences;
(d) collaborate with faculty members, clinicians and industry partners on interdisciplinary research projects;
(e) supervise postgraduate students and contribute to teaching and curriculum development;
(f) seek external research funding to support independent and collaborative projects; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics, Computational Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related discipline;
(b) preferably have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience;
(c) have strong publication record in high-impact journals;
(d) have expertise in bioinformatics, neuroscience, or deep learning;
(e) have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field;
(f) be highly proficient in written and spoken English;
(g) have strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
(h) have ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Preference will be given to those with experience in large-scale biomedical datasets, neuroimaging (e.g., MRI, fMRI, DTI) or multi-omics analysis.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
