Part-time Instructor

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) teach the tutorial part of the “Technical Artist” subjects: “Introduction to Rigging and Technical Animation”, “Procedural Content Generation and AI in Games”, “Introduction to Real-time Rendering” and “Fundamentals of Game and Film Lighting” of the Master of Science in Innovative Multimedia Entertainment (MScIME);

(b) engage and provide a high-quality learning experience to students by designing, coordinating and teaching the subject(s) for the MScIME programme offered by the School;

(c) design innovative and effective curriculum which reflects developing best practice;

(d) be able to demonstrate solid practical skills in professional level;

(e) closely work with subject coordinator to ensure smooth delivery of education content;

(f) respond to student’s inquiry in a timely manner;

(g) contribute to knowledge transfer at a local and/or internationally significant level; and

(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a master’s degree in a related discipline plus at least one year of relevant post-qualification tertiary teaching experience and/or professional practice experience;

(b) possess the skills and experience in:
-    3D package, especially Maya or Blender; 
-    real-time engine, especially Unreal Engine;  
-    procedural workflow in Unreal Engine and using Blueprints;  
-    virtual character design, modelling, rigging and motion capture; 
-    Adobe Creative Cloud packages; 
-    procedural platforms like Houdini (preferred); 
-    Python programming language (preferred).

(c) demonstrate capacity to conduct tutorials, workshops, laboratories, assessments and examination independently and effectively, and evidence of teaching quality including student evaluations and peer review;

(d) demonstrate capability of curriculum development and/or conversion of materials to different delivery methods; and

(e) have a high level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Conditions of Service

The remuneration rate is HK$530 per hour.
