Assistant Technical Officer

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide day-to-day technical support to the Office of Faculty of Business for learning, teaching, research, and promotional activities;

(b)    develop and maintain the AV systems and IT facilities, including software and hardware, servers, networks, and AV items of the Office and its resource centre;

(c)    act as the Departmental Computer Liaison Officer, if appropriate;

(d)    design and participate in various in-house projects and applications such as the development and maintenance of a new data/document management system, including a database system of student records, for the Faculty with reference to the Faculty’s and University’s relevant existing systems, networks, structures and procedures;

(e)    develop and maintain various online and web-based applications including the Faculty’s website;

(f)    assist in inventory control of IT/AV equipment as well as sourcing and purchasing of IT/AV equipment; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or his delegates.

The appointee may be required to work irregular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and/or outside Hong Kong occasionally.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related disciplines; 

(b)    several years of relevant post-qualification experience preferably in academic institutions;

(c)    high level of proficiency in various operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, Windows Server, Mac OS, etc, and a good command of common desktop applications;

(d)    sound experience in Microsoft Office 360 and MS Office Application automation tools such as macros and VBA;

(e)    solid experience in various application development tools/integration tools/database systems such as Python, Node.js, Next.js, MongoDB, Php, MySQL, .NET, VB, MSSQL Server, Java, Oracle, etc;

(f)    solid experience in various multi-media applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc; 

(g)    a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua will be an advantage; and

(h)    good communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
