Research Associate / Research Assistant (three posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months]

Duties 

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research projects - “Exploring the interplay of teaching styles, parental influence, and positive attributes on maladaptive behaviors among Chinese adolescents” and/or “A longitudinal investigation of adolescent problematic smartphone use and family digital environment in China”.  The project investigates youth development among Chinese adolescents, with an emphasis on the impact of familial and educational elements.  The appointees will be required to:

(a)    conduct research and evaluation studies of the projects;

(b)    collect and analyse data;

(c)    draft manuscripts and write reports; 

(d)    assist the project leader in different research activities and handle administrative work; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in one of the said disciplines.

Applicants should also: 

(a)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(b)    have a good knowledge of using statistical software such as SPSS, Mplus, AMOS or R;

(c)    have research interests in youth development and well-being, etc.;

(d)    have a strong sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills; and

(e)    be a good team player and able to work independently.

Conditions of Service
