Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time) (several posts)

Duties
The appointees will assist the project leader for the Research Centre for Future (Caring) Mobility https://www.polyu.edu.hk/en/sd/research/research-centre-for-future-caring-mobility/ in the research project - “An empathetic navigation system design and implementation based on drivers’ emotion inference from traffic contextual data”. They will be required to:
(a) assist in maintaining overall research quality of each stage of the work; and
(b) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have:
(a) a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application; and
(b) rich experience in traffic simulation and prediction, emotion prediction, route planning, data analysis, Electroencephalogram (EEG) data processing or multimodal learning, etc.
Applicants for the Research Associate post should have:
(a) a master’s degree in the said disciplines;
(b) programming experience, proficiency in Python programming, and familiarity with PyCharm Integrated Development Environment (IDE); and
(c) the ability of implementation of and testing the algorithms, deployment of testing environment, conducting of data collection and analysis and interview, etc.
Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have:
(a) an honours degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design, Psychology or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification; and
(b) the ability of deployment of testing environment, conducting of data collection and preliminary analysis and interview, etc.
Applicants should also have:
(a) advanced research training and experience in research project implementation;
(b) knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or biomedical device development, e.g. background in rehabilitation machine learning or electronic engineering;
(c) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage; and
(d) the ability to work independently and meet the work schedule.
Preference will be given to those with proficiency in using the CARLA simulator, as well as software or algorithms related to data collection or analysis, such as iMotions, YOLOv8, MATLAB, etc.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointments, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
For part-time appointments, the remuneration rates are HK$378 per hour for the post of Postdoctoral Fellow, HK$173 per hour for the post of Research Associate and HK$122 per hour for the post of Research Assistant.
