Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research projects - “Enhancement of positive ageing, family relations, and quality of later life”, “i-GESS inter-generational engagement in secondary schools”, “Who cares for sandwiched ageing carers? Effects of intergenerational care provision on future care planning”, “Using Photovoice to improve future care preparation among ageing families in Hong Kong”, “Enhancement of intergenerational digital literacy training for older adults in Hong Kong” and/or “Research centre for gerontology and family studies”.  They will be required to:

(a)    conduct research and evaluation studies of the project(s);

(b)    be responsible for or assist in longitudinal dataset management, statistical analysis and report writing

(c)    support academic activities of the Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies; and

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Fellow post should have a doctoral degree, preferably in Applied Statistics and Data Analysis, Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or other related disciplines with at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience.  Applicants should also have proven experience in managing large-scale longitudinal datasets, strong proficiency in using statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis and experience in developing and implementing data management plans and workflows.

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree, preferably in one of the said disciplines or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.  Applicants should also have demonstrated expertise in using advanced statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis, experience in leading longitudinal data analysis projects and strong proficiency in data visualisation and presentation.
