         [Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Neurocognitive markers for typical language development and language disorders in children: A longitudinal study based on long-term memory, sleep and brain development”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    recruit Cantonese-speaking children who meet the inclusionary and exclusionary criteria;

(b)    design behavioral/MRI experiments under the supervision of the project leader;

(c)    administer the behavioral battery of language, memory and other cognitive tasks to the children;

(d)    assist in MRI data acquisition from the children;

(e)    set up the EEG device and record sleep EEG data from the children;

(f)    analyse the data and carry out statistical analyses under the supervision of the project leader; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a PhD in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or related disciplines, with a specialisation in developmental neuroscience (MRI experience preferred) or child language acquisition, and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

Applicants for the Research Assistant / Project Assistant post should have a master’s degree or an honours degree in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or related disciplines, with some experience in child language acquisition.

Applicants should also have experience of administering behavioral or EEG studies to children.

Preference will be given to those who are native speakers of Cantonese or familiar with Cantonese.
