Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Nature or nurture: The impact of parental and outsourced literacy activities on primary graders’ English literacy competence in the Greater Bay Area of China”.  The project investigates the relationship between various aspects of home literacy environment and primary graders English literacy competence in the Greater Bay Area of China.  They will be required to:

(a)    conduct literature review;

(b)    assist in developing and preparing research tools such as questionnaires;

(c)    conduct data collection and data management;

(d)    liaise with schools, parents and project collaborators; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree, preferably in Psychology, Education or other social science related disciplines;

(b)    have experience in working with young children and interests in supporting children’s diverse learning needs;

(c)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(d)    have knowledge of using statistical software such as Mplus, R and SPSS;

(e)    have good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(f)    be self-motivated, well-organised, detailed-minded and able to multi-task.

Conditions of Service

For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  

For part-time appointment, the remuneration is HK$122 per hour.
