The Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) is a multi-disciplinary department to be established with effect from 1 July 2024 and temporarily hosted under the Faculty of Engineering with a plan to transfer to a new Faculty to be established later.  DSAI will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and innovation, driving forward the fields of Data Science (DS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).


The appointee will be required to:

(a)    provide administrative support to taught and research programmes, teaching and learning activities, as well as research personnel related matters;

(b)    assist in data management and report compilation;

(c)    assist in all kinds of departmental activities, events and functions;

(d)    provide logistic support to committees and meetings;

(e)    provide administrative support for temporary staff appointments and part-time salary payments, claims and other payments for the Unit;

(f)    handle information flow and maintain an effective database and filing system;

(g)    render support to the office administration and daily operation of the Department;

(h)    liaise with the University’s internal units, external organisations, students and alumni, and handle enquiries; and

(i)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.


Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognised degree with at least one year of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably with relevant work experience gained in local tertiary institutions;

(b)    good computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing;

(c)    a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage; 

(d)    good problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills;

(e)    multi-tasking skills and be able to meet tight schedule; 

(f)    a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work independently; and

(g)    proactive and positive work attitude.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
