Research Assistant (two posts)

[Appointment period: each for six months initially, with the possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “The adaptation to talker variability in the adverse listening conditions”. They will be required to:

(a)    conduct literature reviews;

(b)    recruit participants and conduct behavioural/ EEG/ MRI experiments;

(c)    assist in speech signal recording and analysis;

(d)    participate in writing and publishing scientific papers; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree and preferably a master’s degree in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Speech and Hearing Sciences, or equivalent qualifications;

(b)    be a native or near-native speaker of Mandarin or Cantonese;

(c)    be highly proficient in English speaking and writing;

(d)    possess strong communication and interpersonal skills; and

(e)    have experience in using EEG or other neuroimaging methods, E-Prime, or MATLAB to conduct experiments, which would be advantageous.
