Part-time Project Technical Assistant (two posts)

[Appointment period: each for six months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Scaling up C-for-Chinese@JC in Kindergarten Sector to Cultivate Culturally Responsive Education”.  They will be required to: 

(a)    develop a co-schedule management website for collaborative task scheduling;

(b)    collaborate with other team members to gather and analyse website requirements, including schedule management, user management, data management, and notification functions;

(c)    design and develop website layouts, user interfaces, and navigation structures;

(d)    write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using programming languages and frameworks;

(e)    conduct website testing and debugging to identify and resolve any functionality or performance issues;

(f)    collaborate with other team members to ensure the successful completion of website projects within given timelines;

(g)    provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients or end-users regarding website functionality or maintenance;

(h)    adhere to coding standards, security protocols, and quality assurance processes in website development;

(i)    provide training to other team members to assist them in becoming familiar with website operations; and 

(j)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognised degree in Computer Science or related field;

(b)    minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, including relevant experience in web development, preferably with experience in educational projects;

(c)    familiarity with front-end development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as expertise in Vue.js framework and related tools;

(d)    familiarity with back-end development technologies, including C, Java, and Python, as well as expertise in ASP.NET, Express.js, and related tools;

(e)    familiarity with database design, with experience using relational databases such as SQLite, PostgreSQL, or MySQL;

(f)    good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Preference will be given to those who speaks fluent Cantonese.

Conditions of Service

The remuneration rate is HK$120 per hour.
