Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Income inequality in democracies and dictatorships”.  The project focuses on political economy, comparative politics and historical approaches to investigate the relationship between income inequality and politics.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    assist in coordinating the implementation of the project;

(b)    conduct literature review;

(c)    collect and analyse quantitative data;

(d)    prepare reports and manuscripts as well as assisting in related administrative work; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should: 

(a)    have an honours degree, preferably in Political Science or other social science related disciplines;

(b)    have experience in conducting literature review;

(c)    have experience or strong interest in conducting quantitative data analysis using software such as STATA or R;

(d)    have a good command of both written and spoken English;

(e)    have good communication and interpersonal skills; and

(f)    be self-motivated, well-organised, detail-minded and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to those who are interested in pursuing further studies in social sciences.
