Visiting Lecturer (Part-time) (two posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months]

Duties

The appointees will be required to:

(a)    act as a Technical Knowledge Instructor of Airline Transport Pilot’s License (TKI ATPL) to deliver theoretical knowledge to cadet pilots and others for examination purpose in accordance with the current syllabus requirements of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) / European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA);

(b)    ensure that trainee training records are completed in a timely and accurate manner;

(c)    assist in the planning of student activities and practical training;

(d)    prepare progress tests, monitor student progress and act as an internal examiner;

(e)    maintain currency with regard to changes in technology;

(f)    participate in annual refresher training and professional development as directed by the Chief Training Instructor; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a PhD degree or a relevant first degree plus a higher degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant discipline and not less than three years of post-qualification teaching/research/practical and/or industrial experience in aviation or aviation training, preferably with technical knowledge of ATPL;

(b)    a proven record in instructing aviation training courses preferably as part of a Flight Training Organisation (FTO), or in teaching EASA ATPL technical knowledge subjects;

(c)    attendance record of a recognised course in instructional techniques;

(d)    effective classroom teaching skills;

(e)    a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service; and

(f)    qualifications acceptable by the Flight Standards Division of HKCAD.

Preference will be given to the holders of ATPL or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence issued by a recognised regulatory authority.

Conditions of Service

The remuneration rate is HK$900 per hour.
