Assistant Technical Officer (Information Technology)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    enhance the existing IT solutions by troubleshooting technical problems, performing regular maintenance and implementing system upgrades;

(b)    provide IT support for students and staff, including onsite assistance for events and housekeeping of all IT resources (hardware and software inventories);

(c)    provide IT support for workstation, laptop, and network administration in the department;

(d)    maintain computer laboratory and research office facilities in good condition;

(e)    manage network infrastructure, computer systems, and web applications, including maintenance of online database, security control, and access control;

(f)    be familiar with the operation of equipment installed in the teaching facility and be able to provide instructions to users for the proper use of equipment;

(g)    report to the Technical Support Group Leader immediately in case of equipment damage and assist in investigation on the cause of damage;

(h)    assist in complying with the IT policy and rolling out new applications from the University Information Technology Services Office;

(i)    assist in delivering online examinations on various online platforms;

(j)    assist in any activities that contribute to the smooth running of the department as assigned by the Technical Support Group Leader; and

(k)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognized degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Engineering or a related discipline;

(b)    at least three years of post-qualification experience in providing IT support or developing IT systems;

(c)    strong analytical skills and proactive working attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(d)    a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
