Assistant Manager (Network Infrastructure)

Duties
The appointee will join a collaborative team responsible for the development, support and management of the campus network infrastructure. The main duty areas include, but are not limited to, system/infrastructure/service design, service and project management, and service provisioning. The appointee will be required to:
(a) play a pivotal role in driving IT projects encompassing infrastructure design, integration, standardization and hardware refresh across wired and wireless networks as well as cyber security domains;
(b) manage the Wi-Fi team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting all Wi-Fi projects, as well as overseeing day-to-day maintenance, operations and incident handling to ensure a reliable Wi-Fi service on campus;
(c) evaluate existing networking services and provide practical suggestions for enhancements based on current technology trends and industrial standards;
(d) coordinate and collaborate with relevant parties (e.g. units, contractors) regarding the installation and maintenance of wired and wireless network infrastructure;
(e) provide support during service interruptions, ensuring swift and effective resolution by coordinating the team;
(f) handle network faults, user requests and enquiries promptly and efficiently;
(g) perform scheduled maintenance works during non-office hours if required;
(h) maintain standardized documentation, including operational manuals, procedural documents and network diagrams;
(i) communicate clearly and concisely both in written and verbal form with management and business stakeholders; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline;
(b) have at least eight years’ relevant post-qualification work experience;
(c) have extensive experience in planning, coordinating and managing activities related to network systems and technologies in various projects;
(d) have proficiency in network infrastructure design, network systems and administration;
(e) have proven experience and expertise in managing BGP networks;
(f) have demonstrated forward-thinking to optimize network systems for long-term success;
(g) have strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mind;
(h) be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
(i) have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
