Project Technical Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project - “SDIT Team”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    provide technical issue resolution by responding to user inquiries, diagnosing and troubleshooting technical problems and providing timely resolution including software issues, hardware malfunctions, network connectivity problems and other information technology (IT)-related concerns;

(b)    maintain the system by performing routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, software installations, antivirus scans, system backups, monitoring and managing computer systems to ensure optimal performance and security;

(c)    set up hardware and software by installing, configuring, and deploying computer systems, peripherals and software applications as well as ensuring proper functioning and compatibility of hardware and software components; 

(d)    provide network support including troubleshooting network connectivity issues, configuring network settings, providing basic network support and collaborating with network administrators or specialists for complex network problems;

(e)    assist in maintaining the security of computer systems and data by implementing appropriate security measures, educating users about security best practices and supporting data backup and recovery processes to ensure security and data protection;

(f)    collaborate with IT teams to ensure smooth operation of servers, network devices and other infrastructure components as well as assisting with hardware repairs, replacements and upgrades as required;

(g)    provide technical support to school, students and staff using the university’s e-learning platform;

(h)    maintain and update hardware and software resources in computer labs; and

(i)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a higher diploma or a diploma or an equivalent qualification in IT plus at least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience;

(b)    proven experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting in an IT environment; 

(c)    good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, Windows and MacOS;

(d)    good problem-solving and communication skills; and

(e)    ability to work independently and in a team.

Preference will be given to those who have knowledge of design software and hardware, eLearning platforms and image/video/animation editing as well as experience in supporting online teaching and learning in educational environment.
