Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Research Assistant (several posts)

[Appointment period: each for twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointees will assist project leader in the research projects - “Enhancement of positive ageing, family relations, and quality of later life”, “Who cares for sandwiched ageing carers? Effects of intergenerational care provision on future care planning”, “Using Photovoice to improve future care preparation among ageing families in Hong Kong” and/or “Research centre for gerontology and family studies”.  They will be required to:

(a)    conduct research and evaluation studies of the project(s);

(b)    be responsible for or assist in longitudinal dataset management, statistical analysis and report writing

(c)    provide support to academic activities related to the project(s); and

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow post should have a doctoral degree preferably in Applied Statistics and Data Analysis, Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Gerontology, Sociology, Social Work or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.  Applicants should also demonstrate expertise in using statistical methods on longitudinal data analysis, have experience in leading longitudinal data analysis projects and be proficient in data visualisation and presentation.

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree preferably in one of the said disciplines or a good honours degree preferably in one of the said disciplines with at least three years of research/relevant work experience. Applicants should also be proficient in using statistical software such as SPSS and STATA.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree preferably in one of the said disciplines or an equivalent qualification. Applicants should also be proficient in using statistical software such as SPSS and STATA.
