Clinical Associate in Medical Laboratory Science

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences hosting the disciplines of Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography.  HTI offers academic programmes at various levels, ranging from Bachelor’s degree all the way to PhD degree.  There are currently about 40 faculty members, with about 25 technical and administrative personnel, plus around 140 research students and research staff, 250 postgraduate students and 700 undergraduate students in HTI. Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    teach undergraduate/postgraduate courses and supervise students in their clinical training;

(b)    perform other teaching support functions such as supervising students in projects and seminars;

(c)    contribute to programme planning, administration and development;

(d)    engage in teaching, learning and scholarly activities; 

(e)    carry out academic and administrative duties as required; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should have: 

(a)    a higher degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science or related disciplines; 

(b)    a qualification registrable with the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board of the HKSAR; and

(c)    not less than five years of post-registration clinical experience in clinical chemistry.

Preference will be given to those with expertise in other specialties of medical laboratory science.

Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
