Research Fellow

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Joint research centre for primary health care”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    design and undertake research projects within the centre and as assigned by the research staff;

(b)    take a lead role in data collection, analysis and writing up for publications;

(c)    identify sources of funding for primary healthcare research and projects, formulate and submit successful applications for research/project funding;

(d)    participate in developing and directing grant/project budgets;

(e)    participate in training and evaluating research project personnel;

(f)    disseminate research findings via publications and presentations; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a doctoral degree in Nursing, Public Health or other health-related disciplines with at least three years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications and experience;

(b)    have demonstrable experience in designing and undertaking both qualitative and quantitative research, including randomised controlled trials;

(c)    have good academic writing skills in English with publications in refereed journals;

(d)    have strong communication skills, preferably with fluency in both Cantonese and Mandarin;

(e)    have experience in writing research papers and proposals; 

(f)    have strong enthusiasm in research and a good sense of self-motivation; 

(g)    possess good interpersonal and organisational skills;

(h)    be attentive to details and have a sense of responsibility;

(i)    be able to work independently; and

(j)    be a good team player.
