The Department of Chinese History and Culture is an academic department within the Faculty of Humanities. Its mission is to offer high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that provide interdisciplinary training in the study of Chinese history and culture. Currently, the Department offers PhD and MPhil programmes, a taught-master degree programme, a major degree programme in Chinese History and Culture, a minor degree programme in Chinese History and Culture, and university-wide general education courses. Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide administrative support to academic programmes including admission, subject registration, class timetabling, examination and student liaison, etc.;
(b) assist in monitoring and preparing reports related to the administration of academic programmes;
(c) assist in planning and organising various departmental and promotional activities/events, e.g. Info Days, seminars and student activities;
(d) provide secretarial support to meetings;
(e) assist in compiling reports, inputting data and maintaining records;
(f) liaise effectively with University’s internal and external stakeholders and handle enquiries; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree;
(b) have at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience;
(c) have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua;
(d) have good computer skills;
(e) have good communication, interpersonal, liaison and organizational skills; and
(f) be a good team player.
Preference will be given to those with working experience in tertiary institutions or similar organizations.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
