[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibly of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project – “Research Centre for Cultural and Art Technology”.  The Centre is to foster knowledge transfer on cultural aspects and promote economic benefits and creative industry development in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.  The Centre creates innovative solutions for adapting the latest technology in the creative industry through multidisciplinary and collaborative research.  The aim of the Centre is to nurture talents in the disciplines of art-tech and creative industry with impactful research and testing.  The Centre intends to establish a leading position in driving innovation in the art-tech area internationally.  The appointee will be required to:

(a)    assist the Centre Director in research projects in the directions of utilisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to create art pieces and drawings for smart craftships; development of fast AI based 3D modelling and simulation for artifacts; cloud computing based smart infrastructure for AI generated content; development of new design paradigms and methodologies for artists and designers based upon AI tools; and development of new immersive design collaboration platform underpins on AI tools; 

(b)    conduct literature review, data collection, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and user studies; 

(c)    prepare materials for demonstrations and working prototype; 

(d)    liaise and organise events to interact with stakeholders associated with the Centre;

(e)    write and report research outcomes at seminars, workshops, conferences and journals; 

(f)    conduct field study and research; and 

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a master's degree or a good honours degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Design or related disciplines with three or more years of relevant work experience;

(b)    have knowledge of and proficiency in using 2D and 3D related software such as Unity and UE4;

(c)    have knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative studies;

(d)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;

(e)    have excellent organisation and interpersonal skills;

(f)    have strong problem-solving and coordination skills; 

(g)    be proactive, self-motivated and a good team player; and

(h)    have the ability to work independently and meet the work schedule.

Preference will be given to those with programming knowledge in C#, Python and machine learning.
