Optometrist (Research)

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    provide optometry service to patients attending the Optometry Clinic and all satellite clinics of the University;

(b)    provide clinical teaching and research support to the School;

(c)    participate in clinical projects in optometry; 

(d)    participate in the community vision care activities of the School;

(e)    participate in research projects, publish papers in peer-reviewed journals and submit grant proposals with academic/clinical staff; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.

The appointee will be required to work on shift and/or to work on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised degree in Optometry or relevant disciplines, preferably with a postgraduate degree;

(b)    be registrable with the Optometrists Board in the HKSAR;

(c)    have relevant experience in basic and clinical eye research; and

(d)    have at least five years of experience in primary eye care in a professional setting.  

Outstanding applicants with less than five years in clinical experience may also be considered.

Preference will be given to those with postgraduate qualification.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
