Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Affective dynamics in sight translation: The interplay of emotional valence and translation direction”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    conduct literature review; 

(b)    obtain ethics approval;

(c)    recruit participants;

(d)    assist in data analysis;

(e)    participate in writing and publishing scientific papers; and

(f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree and preferably a master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, or equivalent qualifications with some years of research/relevant work experience;

(b)    have proficiency in statistical analysis software, such as R or SPSS;

(c)    be highly proficient in English; and

(d)    have strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with families with young children.

Preference will be given to those with experience in administering experimental studies.
