Project Manager (Temporary Appointment)

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Changing the trajectory of children and youth in residential care - phase one in small group homes” (the Project).  He/She will be required to:

(a)    manage the overall administration and implementation of the Project; 

(b)    provide management support to research related activities, promotion and marketing related activities, human resources matters and financial management of the Project;

(c)    oversee the planning, coordination and implementation of networking events, meetings, seminars, workshops, projects and marketing activities;

(d)    initiate, plan and coordinate the education and training programmes and related promotional activities; 

(e)    manage project and facilitate activities with partners related to collaborative research;

(f)    liaise and build good relationship with different stakeholders of the Project; 

(g)    liaise with internal departments, administrative units and external organisations to execute various events, activities and programmes; 

(h)    provide support to project team members or related committees;

(i)    supervise staff to ensure quality of research output and smooth implementation of the Project; and

(j)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

The appointee may be occasionally required to work on irregular hours including weekday evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised degree in Social Sciences or related disciplines, preferably with a master’s degree in the said discipline;

(b)    have at least eight years of solid relevant working experience and/or supervisory experience in project management and/or marketing communications; 

(c)    have extensive experience in leading research project and conducting research;

(d)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua; 

(e)    have strong organisational, communication, presentation and leadership skills;

(f)    be highly motivated, result-oriented and able to work under pressure;

(g)    be dynamic and mature with the passion to build and sustain strong relationship with stakeholders; and

(h)    be a good team player and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to those with working experience gained in tertiary institutions or similar organisations, as well as those with a strong sense of creativity and aesthetics.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
