Senior Scientific Officer / Scientific Officer

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    maintain the current laboratory (HOKLAS) accreditation status of the PolyU Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory;

(b)    play a key role in maintaining laboratory accreditation, including the registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (Part I), Quality Manager, HOKLAS Approved Signature, HOKLAS Authorized Representative and Enquiry;

(c)    establish a Quality Management System (QMS) for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities to meet the regular requirements from relevant regulatory unit(s) of the Department of Health;

(d)    execute the duties related to the Quality Control (QC) function of GMP, including materials inspection, QC testing, batch record evaluation, approval of specifications, contract analysis, sampling and testing instruction and other QC procedures, equipment maintenance, validation activities as well as training on QC aspects;

(e)    provide regular equipment calibration service to the Department and work on the accreditation status of the calibration laboratory;

(f)    support teaching duties in the field of laboratory accreditation and quality management system per the course need of the Department; and

(g)    perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates from time to time.

Qualifications 

Applicants should:

(a)    have a master’s degree in science-related disciplines;

(b)    have at least five years of relevant operational experience in supervisory level in the medical testing laboratory with a solid track record of and experience in laboratory quality management systems and accreditation;

(c)    have Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologists Board Part 1 Registration License; and

(d)    be proficient in written and spoken English.

Applicants with less experience may be considered for the post of Scientific Officer.

Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
