Postdoctoral Fellow

[Appointment period: twenty-four months]


The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Traffic Signal Control Optimisation Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    conduct research activities in the domain of traffic signal control, with a focus on traffic signal timing optimisation, digital twin, reinforcement learning and surrogate modelling;

(b)    actively assist in proposals writing;

(c)    publish scholarly papers in top-tier journals in the transportation field; and

(d)    provide guidance and supervision to junior researchers.


Applicants should have: 

(a)    a doctoral degree in Transportation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics and Computer Science or an equivalent qualification and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

(b)    demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research and publish research findings in top-tier journals in at least one of the following areas: traffic operations and traffic flow theory, public transportation systems, traffic safety, data analytics or communication networks;

(c)    strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;

(d)    excellent academic writing and verbal communication skills; and

(e)    ability to work independently and supervise junior researchers.
