Assistant Technical Officer
The appointee will be required to:
(a) maintain smooth and safe operation of various laboratories, including teaching and research laboratories of the Unit;
(b) prepare training materials and provide training to laboratory users on the proper use of equipment;
(c) handle the procurement of consumables, equipment and services related to teaching and research laboratories of the Unit and comply with the University’s standing procedures and all related requirements;
(d) liaise with various units of the University on laboratory safety, assist in purchasing large equipment and setting up new laboratories or research offices;
(e) receive visitors to the laboratories and demonstrate safety use of equipment in the laboratories;
(f) provide technical and administrative support for research offices and laboratories management, including safety induction documentations and maintaining equipment inventory of the Unit; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering related discipline;
(b) at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in laboratory management;
(c) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(d) proactive working attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Preference will be given to those with good knowledge of Aviation Engineering, relevant experience in flight simulator and familiarity with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
