Information Technology Officer (Temporary Appointment)

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties 

The appointee will play a key role to support the information technology of the Unit.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    provide IT support to teaching and learning, research, marketing, office administration and other related activities; 

(b)    provide professional advice and training in the development and utilisation of IT resources;

(c)    operate the Centralised Smartcard System (CAMS) of the Unit, including the granting of access right and report analysis;

(d)    assist in the design and maintenance of the Departmental website by Enterprise Content Management System;

(e)    maintain the inventory management system of the Unit and support the inventory check;

(f)    act as the Departmental Computer Liaison Officer, Departmental PUsecure Administrator, and departmental representative in the University’s IT administration and policies;

(g)    oversee the purchase, setup, maintenance and inventory control of IT-related facilities, including servers and networks as well as computer hardware; and 

(h)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised bachelor’s degree in Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;

(b)    have at least five years of relevant post-qualification work experience in computer networking, cloud computing, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows and MAC;

(c)    have solid knowledge in HTML, CSS PHP, JavaScript and MySQL;

(d)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; 

(e)    have strong analytical and problem-solving skills; 

(f)    have good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(g)    be proactive, able to work independently and under pressure.
