Teaching Fellow

[Appointment period: eleven months]

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    undertake lecture, tutorial, laboratory, workshop and classroom teaching duties in essential skills for communication design and information design for students at foundation year and year-two in the related clusters; 

(b)    supervise students’ projects and develop course work;

(c)    assess students’ achievement and academic performance;

(d)    assist in project and development work for academic and research activities at foundation year level;

(e)    contribute to the foundation year student admission exercise, including interview and portfolio review (JUPAS, Non-JUPAS, JEE and Non-JEE);

(f)    be responsible for subject development and materials preparation, as well as coordination with other academic and non-academic units, and clients/industries;

(g)    promote the Bachelor degree programmes and serve as tutor in summer camp;

(h)    guide the foundation year students for developing their design portfolio throughout the one-year learning journey; and

(i)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a master’s degree in Visual Communication Design, Information Design or related fields plus at least three years of post-qualification relevant professional experience, and/or industrial experience; 

(b)    have good knowledge of design thinking technique, design research methods, typography, branding design, data visualisation and hands-on skills in visualisation;

(c)    be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and experience in innovative pedagogical approach; 

(d)    be highly proficient in written and spoken English; and 

(e)    have good communication and interpersonal skills.
